Personal Background

Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, I hail from a family with a history of addiction and dysfunction, despite its best intentions. My own personal journey of recovery and healing from childhood trauma inspired me to discover the meaning and value I could gain from those experiences and how they have impacted me as an adult. As a result, I possess intuition that enables me to relate and attune to others with impartiality and authenticity.

Compassion and empathy are greatly needed by all of us but are very rarely provided unconditionally in our families, communities, and other support systems. Life’s way of shaping our strengths can be overwhelmingly painful and perplexing, and while we all have our own journey to discover, we do not have to do it in isolation. My goal is to assist my clients in cultivating their unique inner resources, to move beyond life’s challenges and embrace hope. As a dedicated professional, I apply my personal strengths to collaborate with and support my clients on their individual journeys.

Education & Experience

I received a Bachelor of Science in Management from Texas Tech University, however, my own recovery, as well as my passion to help others, compelled me to return to graduate school at The University of North Texas, where I earned my Master of Science in Clinical Counseling. My experience encompasses three years in private practice prior to joining CCIA, as well as working at a behavioral health hospital that specializes in coexisting psychiatric conditions and chemical dependency. While there I gained clinical knowledge and experience, allowing me to integrate my authentic empathy with leading intervention techniques in addiction co-occurring with severe mental health disorders such as Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, as well as Psychotic episodes.

I am currently in the process of enhancing my knowledge and experience by earning an accreditation as a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) through the International Institute of Trauma and Addiction Professionals, as well as helping to facilitate intensive workshops that utilize Pia Mellody’s Post Induction Therapy model for treating family of origin relational trauma. I have completed Level 1 Training in the Gottman Method for Couple’s Therapy. I am a National Certified Counselor and a Texas Licensed Professional Counselor Intern (LPC Intern), supervised by Randy Martin, LPC-S.
